Application requirements

If you are applying NANOS membership, please ensure you have the following information readily available to complete the required questions on the application:

Student: First name, last name, and professional email address of an ophthalmologist, neurologist or neurosurgeon who has agreed to endorse/sponsor your application.

Resident: First name, last name, and professional email address of an ophthalmologist, neurologist or neurosurgeon who has agreed to endorse/sponsor your application.

Fellow-in-Training: First name, last name, and professional email address of an ophthalmologist, neurologist or neurosurgeon who has agreed to endorse/sponsor your application.

International/Active: First name, last name, and professional email address of a Fellow on NANOS who has agreed to endorse/sponsor your application.(Please note that Fellow refers to a class of membership.)

Associate: First name, last name, and professional email address of a Fellow on NANOS who has agreed to endorse/sponsor your application.(Please note that Fellow refers to a class of membership.)

Fellow & International Fellow: First name, last name, and professional email address of 2 Fellows of NANOS who has agreed to endorse/sponsor your application.

Senior or Fellow Senior (International Senior): 

  1. are fully disabled and have been a Society member for no less than five (5) years; or
  2. are fully retired from the active practice of clinical Neuro-Ophthalmology or research and have been a Society member for no less than fifteen (15) consecutive years; or
  3. have been a Fellow of NANOS for no less than 30 consecutive years.

FAQs:

1. I’m currently in residency. Which membership type should I apply for?
   - Apply for Resident membership.

2. I’m currently in fellowship. Am I eligible for NANOS membership?
   - Yes, you should join as a Fellow-in-training member.

3. I'm a board-certified ophthalmologist/neurologist/neurosurgeon practicing neuro-ophthalmology. Which membership type should I apply for?
   - Join as an Active member if practicing in North America, or as an International Active member if practicing outside the US or Canada.

4. How long is my membership good for?
   - NANOS membership is valid from January 1 to December 31 each year.
   For Example: Your 2024 dues payment will cover your membership until December 31, 2024.

5. Does NANOS offer tiered membership pricing?
   - Yes, NANOS does offer tiered membership pricing.

6. What's my membership type?
   - To update or inquire about your membership type, please email Ruva at info@nanosweb.org

7. How can I auto-renew?
NANOS is pleased to provide all new and renewing members with the opportunity to enroll in automatic dues renewal. Signing up is quick and easy and will ensure that your annual membership dues are paid automatically in the future, saving you the need to sign in and renew manually each year. Enroll into our Auto-Dues renewal program now:

  1. Login to your NANOS account at NANOS website and click on 'Profile'.
  2. Go to 'Settings' and choose 'Renewal Settings'.
  3. Enter your preferred payment method, your credit card or e-check information, and click 'Enroll'. Congratulations! You are all set for Auto-Renewals.

8. I am a practicing Neuro-Ophthalmologist and I do not see my Listing in the Find-A-Neuro-Ophthalmology Directory

- If you don't see your listing, please click here to learn how to update your directory settings. 

9. How do I update my mailing address for the Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology (JNO)?

     1. Login to your NANOS account at NANOS website and click on 'Profile'.

     2.Go to 'Settings' and choose 'Update Mailing Address'.

10. Does NANOS offer reduced membership dues for physicians practicing in countries with low and low-middle income economies as defined by the World Bank?
