New: VOLUNTEER CORNER - NANOS HEROES
Dr. Devin Mackay - NANOS 2024 MERIT AWARD Recipient!

Dr. Devin Mackay

Meet our June hero and NANOS 2024 Merit Award recipient, Dr. Devin Mackay

Ophthalmology or Neurology?
  - Neurology

What was the best clinical pearl you learned in fellowship?
  - Adhere to a high standard of excellence with an organized and systematic approach to patient evaluations and don't take shortcuts.

What are the top 3 things you've learned over the past 5 years?

  1. Even though you may know a patient's diagnosis or treatment plan before you even see them, most patients still need to feel heard and that you are willing to listen to them.
  2. Show mercy to colleagues.
  3. Consistency and diligence are rewarded.

Read the full interview with Dr. Devin Mackay here for a deeper dive into his remarkable involvement with NANOS.

NEW KNOWLEDGE: In Neuro-Ophthalmology

Dr. Mollan surveyed neuro-ophthalmologists in the UK and found similar shortages of neuro-ophthalmology care as the US. 72% of respondents felt they received too many referrals to deliver high-quality service. Interestingly, 67% work with specially trained allied professionals and 63% ran virtual clinics. Training more neuro-ophthalmologists or developing different approaches to meet the demand is required. Read More
